About the Role

The Helper role assists a journeyman in planning, laying‑out, installing, testing, and repairing all types of construction‑related systems and components in accordance with plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards. • Read and interpret measuring tools and plant drawings accurately. • Thread, bevel, cut, and install various pipe types and fittings. • Use hand and power tools to fit and install pipe systems, including welded, threaded, Victaulic, grooved, glued, and fused joints. • Install, disassemble, and remove valves, couplings, and damaged pipe components. • Perform daily safety checks and adhere to safety programs and toolbox meetings. • Coordinate material and equipment movement with installation crews. • Follow directions from foremen and support project tasks as assigned. • Maintain accuracy and quality standards per plans and specifications. • Communicate issues, material needs, and hazards to the foreman. • Participate in daily toolbox meetings and model safe behavior. • Perform physically demanding tasks, lifting up to 50 lb, and work in diverse weather conditions. • Travel up to 90% to project sites and work up to 12‑hour shifts.

What You Bring

Candidates should have 3–4 years of related experience or training, a high school diploma or GED preferred, and be at least 18 years old. A basic knowledge of construction processes, familiarity with MIC Health and Safety programs, and proficiency in at least one craft area are required, along with the ability to read drawings, compute basic numbers, and follow directions. The position demands physical stamina for up‑to‑12‑hour shifts, including lifting up to 50 lb, climbing, kneeling, and working in extreme temperatures, weather, and noisy environments. Workers must wear required PPE, adhere to fall‑protection requirements, and maintain visual and auditory acuity. • Demonstrate proficiency in at least one craft area and basic math skills. • Wear required personal protective equipment and follow fall protection protocols.
