About the Role

The role involves site development engineering and project management for various land‑development projects. Responsibilities include civil design, permitting, hydrology and storm‑drainage modeling using AutoCAD and Civil 3D, as well as research, coordination, staff supervision, cost estimating, bid‑package preparation, and drafting technical specifications. The employee will receive both on‑the‑job and formal training, mentorship, and exposure to plan production, project financials, and client interactions. • Perform site civil design, permitting, and hydrology/storm‑drainage modeling using AutoCAD Civil 3D. • Manage land development projects, including research, coordination, cost estimating, and bid package preparation. • Provide staff supervision and ensure compliance with land disturbance permits.

What You Bring

Kimley-Horn's Houston, Texas office is seeking a Civil Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with at least two years of experience to join their Land Development team. This position is on-site and not remote. Candidates must have two or more years of experience with a civil engineering design firm, a bachelor's or master's degree from an ABET‑accredited program, and an Engineer‑In‑Training (or Engineering Intern) certification—or be able to obtain it within 12 months. Required skills include proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication, a sense of urgency, self‑initiative, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively. • Hold 2+ years of civil engineering design experience, an ABET‑accredited degree, and EIT certification (or obtain within 12 months). • Demonstrate strong communication, urgency, attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
