About the Role

Key responsibilities include supervising the overall financial health of projects, developing and maintaining financial and equipment forecasts, allocating estimates into the financial system, and approving invoices. The manager will provide financials and billings to Accounting, create monthly owner billings, and handle subcontracts and suppliers while managing budgets and selections. Leadership duties involve guiding Assistant Project Managers and Project Engineers, assigning jobs, providing training, and acting as the main point of contact with owners and on‑site representatives. Additional tasks cover resolving site concerns, processing change orders, obtaining approvals, and maintaining schedule, budget, quality, risk, safety, and compliance. • Supervise project financial health and allocate cost codes in the financial system. • Generate monthly owner billings and provide financial data to Accounting. • Manage subcontracts, suppliers, and budget selections. • Lead and mentor Assistant Project Managers and Project Engineers. • Serve as primary liaison with owners and on‑site representatives. • Resolve site issues, process change orders, and secure necessary approvals. • Maintain project schedule, budget, quality, risk, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Mortenson is seeking a Senior Project Manager I to lead one large project or multiple projects, overseeing quality, timeliness, safety, and team mentorship. The role requires developing strong customer relationships through excellent service and communication with staff at all levels in a dynamic environment. Flexibility, creativity, dedication, efficiency, integrity, and confidentiality are essential for success. Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Architectural Engineering, or Construction Management, or possess equivalent experience, and have a minimum of eight years of construction or project management experience on large, complex projects. Required skills include active listening, effective communication, basic knowledge of construction law, intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office and relevant web applications, a positive professional attitude, strong customer service, and the ability to interpret Mortenson policies. A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel up to 100% are also required. • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Architectural Engineering, or Construction Management (or equivalent experience). • Possess at least eight years of construction/project management experience on large, complex projects. • Demonstrate strong communication, active listening, and customer‑service skills. • Proficient with Microsoft Office and project‑management web applications at an intermediate level. • Maintain a valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 100% of the time.

The position offers a base salary ranging from $140,800 to $211,200, with higher ranges for select locations, and eligibility for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
