About the Role
As a key leader at WM’s Moreno Valley Transfer Station and Construction & Demolition Facility, the Material Recovery & Transfer Station (MRF) Manager drives operational excellence by ensuring a safe, efficient, and high‑performing facility grounded in our Mission to Zero standards. This role provides strong people leadership by selecting, developing, coaching, and empowering employees to build an engaged, safety‑focused, high‑performing team. The manager oversees day‑to‑day operations, optimizes throughput, reduces truck turnaround times, and manages costs while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability. With a commitment to service, innovation, and environmental responsibility, the MRF Manager II ensures reliable, sustainable operations that reflect WM’s core values and support exceptional customer service. Physical demands include office work with standard equipment and occasional on‑site activities; reasonable accommodations are provided as needed. The role operates primarily in a professional office environment but also involves oversight of the transfer station facilities. • Ensure smooth operation of the site, including gatehouse, sorting, and loading. • Minimize handling and operational costs. • Reduce truck turnaround time in and out of the site. • Propose operational improvement initiatives regularly. • Act as liaison for community relationships when needed. • Comply with WM’s Mission to Zero standards and related regulations. • Submit budget information and analyze data against year‑to‑date and prior year budgets. • Create a positive, team‑oriented environment through employee development and motivation. • Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of the MRF property via inspections and preventive maintenance. • Oversee personnel needs: select, coach, train, evaluate performance, and advise on termination, compensation, and promotions. • Participate in and contribute to periodic safety meetings. • Provide training and presentations in a positive, professional manner. • Update and submit required reports promptly.

What You Bring
The position requires a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering or a related field, or a high school diploma with four years of relevant experience, and a total of seven years of work experience. Preferred candidates have waste‑industry, recycling, or material recovery experience. Candidates must have a REAL ID or an acceptable alternative, as the role may require air travel or access to federal property.

Benefits
Compensation ranges from $100,050 to $127,535, with the final salary based on experience, education, certifications, and location, and includes eligibility for incentive pay.
