About the Role

The role involves spreading, preparing, leveling, finishing, and repairing concrete surfaces, as well as maintaining a clean work area and collaborating with diverse team members. • Spread concrete to the required depth and consistency. • Prepare substrates using cementitious or finish products and set forms to standards (chipping, bushing, grinding). • Finish surfaces with a power trowel or abrasive stone, ensuring proper elevation. • Remove rough or defective spots using a power grinder, chisel, or hammer. • Patch holes with fresh concrete or epoxy compound. • Form expansion joints and edges. • Grind, chip, or blast surfaces for preparation or finish. • Clean the work area and restock supplies as needed. • Build effective relationships with diverse individuals at all organizational levels. • Perform repetitive hand, arm, and leg movements.

What You Bring

Mortenson is seeking a Cement Mason Journeyman to smooth and finish surfaces of poured concrete floors, walls, sidewalks, or curbs to specified textures using hand or power tools such as floats, trowels, and screeds. Candidates must hold a high school diploma or GED, have at least two years of related experience, and pass the Apprentice Aptitude Test. They should be capable of reading technical documents, performing basic math, and demonstrate strong teamwork, communication, and the physical ability to lift up to 50 lb, with assistance for heavier loads. • Level, smooth, and shape freshly poured concrete surfaces. • High school diploma or GED. • Minimum two years of related experience. • Pass the Apprentice Aptitude Test. • Read and interpret safety regulations, operation manuals, and procedure documents; perform basic math. • Demonstrate teamwork, positive attitude, professional customer service, detail orientation, active listening, and effective communication. • Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lb; heavier loads require assistance or equipment.
