Maintenance Technician

About the Role

The technician performs electrical maintenance using lockout/tagout procedures, verifies that all guards and safety devices are functional, and monitors inventory levels of parts and supplies. They use both manual and computerized maintenance management systems to track equipment status, read and interpret blueprints and schematics, and conduct breakdown repairs, preventive maintenance, and changeovers. Additionally, they fabricate repair parts, operate industrial trucks and cranes, and support continuous‑improvement initiatives while maintaining a clean and safe work environment. • Perform electrical maintenance using lockout/tagout safety procedures. • Verify guards and safety equipment before returning equipment to operation. • Monitor inventory levels and place orders for parts, equipment, and supplies. • Use CMMS to track, inspect, and report equipment status. • Read blueprints, manuals, and schematics to diagnose and repair machinery. • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and quality issues; escalate when required. • Conduct breakdown repairs, preventive maintenance, and changeovers on production equipment. • Report unresolved safety, quality, or operational issues to supervisors. • Observe mechanical devices and use precision instruments for diagnosis. • Fabricate repair parts with machine shop tools. • Operate powered industrial trucks, overhead cranes, and portable cranes. • Support continuous improvement and problem‑solving initiatives. • Comply with OSHA standards, hazard communication, lockout, and ergonomic guidelines. • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

What You Bring

Reporting to the supervisor, the Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe repair and rebuild of tube‑mill production equipment. The primary focus is to maximize equipment quality, uptime, rate, and yield. This position is ideal for individuals with strong electrical aptitude, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to resolve both electrical and mechanical issues while adhering to safety procedures. Candidates must have at least five years of experience in a heavy‑manufacturing environment, preferably in a maintenance role, and possess apprenticeship, journeyman, military, or equivalent mechanical/electrical training. Proficiency with hand and power tools, precision measuring devices, and technical drawings is required, as is strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with electrical systems and PLCs. Effective English communication, basic math skills, proven troubleshooting ability, and a commitment to teamwork and safety are essential. The role requires the ability to regularly lift or move up to 50 lb, stand or walk for extended periods, and perform a variety of movements such as bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling, crawling, and reaching in all directions as needed. Other physical demands may be required based on the specific tasks performed. • Minimum five years of heavy‑manufacturing maintenance experience. • Apprenticeship, journeyman, military, or equivalent mechanical/electrical training preferred. • Proficient with hand/power tools, precision measuring devices, and technical drawings. • Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of electrical systems and PLCs. • Effective English communication and basic math skills. • Demonstrated troubleshooting in fast‑paced, safety‑focused environments. • Ability to pass job‑related testing, physical exam, and drug screening. • Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities.
