About the Role
In this leadership capacity, the incumbent will oversee UK MOD Enterprise accounts, establishing and implementing business strategies, objectives, and financial targets. They will foster effective relationships with internal stakeholders—including business units, commercial teams, and strategic marketing—and build cross‑geography partnerships such as with the US DoD to support global defence programmes. The role includes driving business development and sales growth by shaping regional defence strategies, prioritising pursuits, and managing capture processes. Responsibilities cover monitoring the sales pipeline, analysing short‑, medium‑, and long‑term MOD opportunities, leading team formation for major pursuits, and collaborating with marketing to launch strategic campaigns while applying rigorous go/no‑go discipline. • Lead UK MOD Enterprise accounts and set strategic business objectives. • Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders and global defence partners. • Drive business development, capture management, and sales pipeline for strategic pursuits. • Collaborate with marketing to create campaigns and support go/no-go decision processes. • Provide regional growth strategy, prioritize pursuits, and analyse opportunity timelines.

What You Bring
The Business Development – Account Director role focuses on expanding AECOM’s presence with the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD). Reporting to the Head of Defence UK, Europe & India, the role sits on the Defence Leadership Team and requires an active UK Security Clearance or the ability to obtain one, with possible Developed Vetting. Regular travel to London and other UK offices is expected. The successful candidate will have senior‑level experience in infrastructure advisory or a comparable consulting business selling to the defence sector, deep knowledge of UK MOD structures, and a proven record of securing contracts worth $5‑20 million. Strong customer engagement, business acumen, and a network of senior MOD and OEM stakeholders are essential, as is the ability to meet sales production metrics and develop compelling value propositions. • Require senior‑level experience in infrastructure advisory or professional services selling to defence. • In‑depth knowledge of UK MOD, government frameworks, and OEM networks. • Proven track record of winning $5‑20 million consulting contracts and managing MOD frameworks. • Ability to obtain UK Security Clearance and potential Developed Vetting.
