About the Role

As a Senior Operations Research / Systems Analyst you will join the Test Resource Management Center’s Big Data and Knowledge Management team, supporting DoD test ranges and acquisition programs by providing data‑driven decision analysis using machine learning, operations research, and advanced analytics. You will mine large data sets, develop statistical and machine learning models in Python or R, create custom algorithms, and produce reproducible notebooks and documentation to deliver high‑quality analytic products. The role includes analytic consulting, workflow optimization, and promoting best practices, while acting as the primary contact for stakeholders to ensure they receive the analytical tools, data products and reports needed for informed recommendations. Technical responsibilities involve operating and demonstrating the CHEETAS tool suite, delivering hands‑on training, troubleshooting within secure, offline networks, and providing feature requests or bug reports to the development team. • Support TRMC Big Data & Knowledge Management team for DoD test ranges and acquisition programs. • Perform data‑driven analysis using machine learning, operations research, and statistical methods. • Develop and run data mining models in Python or R, create custom algorithms, and document results. • Provide analytic consulting, workflow optimization, and promote data‑science best practices. • Act as primary stakeholder liaison, delivering analytical tools, reports, and actionable recommendations. • Communicate findings effectively through written reports and oral presentations to technical and programmatic audiences. • Operate and demonstrate CHEETAS tools, conduct hands‑on training, and troubleshoot within secure, offline networks. • Work independently with minimal supervision, testing courses of action and model effectiveness. • Travel up to 25 % (potentially 50 %) to support DoD ranges while maintaining remote work flexibility.

What You Bring

Effective communication of insights is essential; you must present findings both in written reports and oral presentations to technical and programmatic audiences. The position is remote‑first with up to 25 % travel (potentially 50 %) to DoD ranges and labs across the United States; you must be self‑motivated and capable of independent work with minimal supervision. Basic qualifications include an active TS/SCI clearance, an advanced degree in operations research, engineering, applied mathematics, statistics, computer science or IT, and preferably 12 + years of DoD experience. Required skills encompass Python and R scripting, Jupyter/RMarkdown notebooks, interactive visualizations (Shiny, Dash), SQL querying, Windows/Linux/containers, and the ability to generate and present analytical reports. Preferred qualifications feature 12 + years of DoD experience, military ORSA background, knowledge of JADC2, JSF, TENA, JMETC, distributed testing, and familiarity with DoD cybersecurity policies. • Maintain an active TS/SCI clearance and hold an advanced degree in a quantitative discipline. • Proficient in Python, R, Jupyter/RMarkdown, interactive visualizations (Shiny, Dash), SQL, and containerized environments. • Preferred: 12 + years of DoD experience, military ORSA background, and knowledge of JADC2, JSF, TENA, JMETC, and DoD cybersecurity policies.
