About the Role

Within HDR’s Building Engineering Services Group, engineers design the critical infrastructure that powers the digital age—from high‑performance data centers enabling AI to dynamic commercial environments that support human experience. By integrating mechanical, electrical, structural, and civil expertise, the team drives sustainability, innovation, and precision in the built environment. • Collaborate with multidisciplinary design team to develop superstructure concepts for new and existing buildings. • Perform structural analyses and create design options, construction drawings, reports, cost estimates, and specifications. • Assist in designing steel, concrete, masonry, and wood structures, including repair, retrofit, and historic rehabilitation. • Prepare engineering calculations in compliance with ASCE 7, IBC, AISC, and ACI codes. • Utilize 3D analysis software, hand calculations, and classical methods to solve complex engineering problems. • Work independently on small projects or support senior engineers on larger assignments. • Direct BIM, administrative, and technical staff and perform BIM tasks as needed. • Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and manage construction administration duties. • Conduct site observations, produce field observation reports, and assess facility conditions.

What You Bring

The MN/WI BES team is seeking a motivated Structural EIT or Design Coordinator. This early‑career role offers exposure to a wide range of projects—healthcare, civic, technology, commercial, water, and light‑industrial—many located in high‑seismic regions, and provides mentorship from seasoned structural engineers to develop new technical skills. • Hold a master’s degree in Structural Engineering or Architectural Engineering with a structural emphasis. • Possess 2–4 years of relevant experience (entry‑level candidates considered). • Obtain EIT certification for career progression (Coordinators expected to achieve EIT). • Demonstrate proficiency in Autodesk Revit, Bentley RAM Structural System, or STAAD. • Have prior structural design experience through internships or full‑time roles. • Earn a bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering. • Proficient with Microsoft Office and structural analysis software such as AutoCAD, RISA, STAAD, SAP, Tedds, RAM, ETABS, or SAFE.
