About the Role

Responsibilities include managing employee leave requests and accommodations under FMLA, ADA, state and local laws, as well as short‑ and long‑term disability programs. The specialist will handle the entire FMLA process, communicate with employees and managers, advise on leave interactions with paid time off and disability benefits, oversee return‑to‑work, and maintain accurate, confidential records in systems such as Abentys and Workday. • Communicate with employees about leave needs and modified work schedules. • Guide employees on documentation and notice requirements for leave qualification. • Manage the full FMLA administration process, from initial notice to return‑to‑work. • Gather and complete required paperwork, determine eligibility, and request medical certification. • Track intermittent and reduced‑schedule leave usage. • Maintain regular communication with employees on leave to ensure smooth return. • Relay information between employees and managers during leave. • Advise managers and employees on how leave laws interact with PTO and disability benefits. • Oversee return‑to‑work for extended FMLA, military, or other leaves. • Process ADA accommodation and intermittent leave requests. • Collaborate with HR and managers to approve or deny leave based on eligibility. • Draft or recommend revisions to leave policies for legal compliance. • Preserve confidentiality of employee medical records and ensure HIPAA compliance. • Maintain accurate leave and accommodation records per legal requirements. • Coordinate with disability providers to correctly file claims. • Update employee leave status in Workday and track information in Abentys (Leavelink). • Assist with HRIS testing and other assigned duties. • Ensure confidentiality of health information and maintain HIPAA compliance.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and have 2‑3 years of leave administration experience. Required skills include strong organization, issue resolution in a fast‑paced environment, effective verbal and written communication, HIPAA compliance, and familiarity with Workday. Physical demands involve bending, lifting up to 25 lb, and adherence to Sunbelt’s safety policies. • Hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with 2‑3 years of leave administration. • Possess extensive knowledge of FMLA, ADA, and related state/local laws. • Demonstrate strong organizational and follow‑through skills in a fast‑paced environment. • Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication across all organizational levels. • Experience with Workday preferred.
