About the Role
This opportunity involves providing local technical assistance for the design, development, and construction of building and infrastructure projects in both the public and private sectors. Tasks may include research, design, concept development, and construction of load‑bearing structures, while generating accurate documentation and ensuring quality that meets or exceeds industry standards for safety and functionality. Under general supervision, the role assists with basic professional structural engineering work, including research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, resources, buildings, infrastructure, and transportation channels to ensure compliance with applicable rules, standards, and permits. Additional responsibilities include verifying site characteristics, providing technical assistance to ensure structural soundness against loads and pressures, generating documentation using electronic systems and 2D/3D illustrations, complying with safety guidelines, collecting and analyzing data from surveys, GIS, maps, and geotechnical sources, completing training, and adhering to WSP’s Code of Conduct. • Provide research, design, and concept development support for load‑bearing structures. • Generate accurate documentation, drawings, and 2D/3D illustrations. • Perform site inspections and verify compliance with codes and permits. • Assist in ensuring structural soundness against environmental and load pressures. • Collect and analyze data from surveys, GIS, maps, and geotechnical sources. • Follow safety guidelines and maintain site‑specific procedural compliance. • Complete assigned training and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct. • Maintain a proven safety record and comply with health, safety, and harassment policies.

What You Bring
The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, has 3‑5 years of relevant experience, possesses strong research and analytical skills, is familiar with construction codes and regulations, demonstrates effective communication and self‑leadership, can work independently and in teams, and is proficient with technical writing and design software such as SAFE, ETABS, RAM, AutoCAD, Revit, and Excel. Preferred qualifications include Engineer in Training certification, a Master’s degree, familiarity with design/build processes, relevant internship experience, and active participation in local professional organizations. • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering with 3‑5 years experience. • Demonstrate strong analytical, communication, and self‑leadership abilities. • Proficient in design software such as SAFE, ETABS, RAM, AutoCAD, Revit, and Excel. • Ability to work flexible schedules and travel as required with a valid driver’s license. • Preferred: Engineer in Training certification and Master’s degree. • Preferred: Experience with design/build processes and professional organization involvement.
