About the Role
The Leave and Benefits Specialist is responsible for daily administration and support of employee leave of absence programs. The role coordinates closely with third‑party leave vendors, monitors claim activity, and ensures accurate and timely processing. It also serves as a primary point of contact for employees, HR partners, payroll, and external vendors. In the leave‑of‑absence domain, the specialist acts as the internal liaison for third‑party leave and disability vendors, monitors case intake, provides status updates, and communicates with employees. They review vendor reports for accuracy, address discrepancies, and manage escalations or complex cases. The specialist also supports vendor implementations, transitions, and continuous process improvements. Accurate data flow between leave vendors, benefits administrators, the HRIS, and payroll systems is maintained through regular review and reconciliation of feeds and reports. The specialist works with payroll to ensure correct pay status, deductions, and premium payments during and after leave. They also support Open Enrollment activities such as testing, audits, employee assistance, and communication of updates. • Serve as primary internal liaison for third‑party leave and disability vendors. • Monitor leave cases, ensure timely intake, status updates, and employee communications. • Review and reconcile vendor reports, addressing discrepancies and service gaps. • Manage escalations, complex cases, and support vendor implementations and process improvements. • Provide day‑to‑day support for medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and flexible spending benefit programs. • Assist employees with benefit enrollment, life‑event changes, eligibility issues, and benefit continuation during leave. • Partner with benefit carriers to resolve enrollment and coverage problems. • Ensure accurate data flow between leave vendors, benefits admins, HRIS, and payroll; reconcile feeds and reports. • Coordinate with payroll to maintain correct pay status, deductions, and premium payments during and after leave. • Support Open Enrollment testing, audits, employee communications, and issue resolution.

What You Bring
The role prefers experience in both leave administration and health‑and‑welfare benefits, familiarity with HRIS and payroll platforms, and strong organizational and follow‑through skills in a high‑volume environment. Minimum qualifications include 2–4 years of experience in leave or benefits administration and experience working with third‑party vendors. Strong communication skills and an employee‑focused approach are required.
