About the Role

Key duties include locating the coil number, quantity, and revision, then recording this information on the coil and labor paperwork. The operator installs and adjusts necessary devices on the winding machine to meet window sizing specifications, loads strip, conductor, and insulating paper into dereeling mechanisms, and measures and aligns materials accordingly. Additional tasks involve placing and adjusting the coil form, applying pack‑out per specification, folding, insulating, and tape‑welding pre‑cut leads, and using a crimping tool to attach wire to static shielding. • Set up and operate winding machines to produce coils per specifications. • Identify and record coil number, quantity, and revision on paperwork. • Install and adjust machine devices to meet window sizing requirements. • Load strip, conductor, and insulating paper into dereeling mechanisms. • Measure, align, and adjust materials and coil form as required. • Apply pack‑out, fold, insulate, and tape‑weld pre‑cut leads on each coil section. • Operate crimping tool to attach wire to static shielding.

The Coil Winder Machine Operator Apprentice sets up and runs winding machines to produce coils of various sizes according to winding sheets, diagrams, and order pouches. Coil configurations may include strip, round, or rectangular wire in multiple combinations. The apprenticeship includes classroom technical training, welding and brazing instruction at WCTC, use of HoloLens smart glasses, and on‑the‑job experience. Apprentices must complete a two‑week welding and brazing training program at WCTC. Candidates need a minimum of six months of manufacturing experience or relevant education, and must reside within 50 miles of the Waukesha, WI facility, unless they are active‑duty military personnel. Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, at least one year of manufacturing or military technical experience, and six months of prior coil‑winding experience. Applicants must be able to interpret prints, quality specifications, and safety instructions, work overtime when required, and lift up to 50 lb while performing various physical tasks. • Complete two‑week welding and brazing training at WCTC. • Possess at least six months of manufacturing experience or related education. • Live within 50 miles of Waukesha, WI (exempt for active‑duty military). • Hold a high school diploma or GED and one year of manufacturing or military technical training. • Have minimum six months of coil‑winding experience and ability to read technical prints. • Ability to work overtime and lift up to 50 lb while performing essential duties.
