Senior Cost Consultant

About the Role

The role provides end‑to‑end cost‑management services for new and ongoing commissions across various sectors, leveraging advanced technical expertise. • Lead feasibility studies, advise on procurement strategies and contract selection, and prepare procurement reports. • Apply value‑management techniques early in projects to optimise cost and performance. • Manage estimating and cost‑planning activities, ownership and presentation of the final cost plan. • Oversee the full procurement process, including pre‑qualification, enquiry, analysis, selection and contract preparation. • Supervise preparation of contract documents, warranties, bonds and licences and ensure proper execution. • Advise on administration of building contract terms and ensure accurate measurement and valuation of work. • Provide cost control and monthly post‑contract cost reporting to clients. • Identify and assess cost impacts of design changes, contract awards, construction activities and client charges. • Evaluate contractor and subcontractor claims for delay and additional costs. • Issue certificates of making good defects, practical completion and negotiate final accounts. • Lead and develop a team of Cost Consultants through coaching, performance management and training. • Drive continuous improvement, system enhancements and support net‑zero carbon transition initiatives.

A degree in quantity surveying or cost management and professional membership (MRICS/RICS or equivalent) are required, together with detailed knowledge of construction contracts and contractual frameworks. • In‑depth knowledge of sustainability, social value and carbon‑reduction strategies. • Expertise in value engineering, life‑cycle costing and industry best practices. • Degree in quantity surveying or cost management (or equivalent) and MRICS/RICS membership. • Comprehensive understanding of construction contracts, contract law and contractual frameworks. • Proven ability to manage contract administration and stakeholder relationships at senior level. • Technical proficiency in the specific sector or market of the role.
