About the Role
The Aerospace Quality Engineer will serve as the engineer for AS9102 First‑Article Inspections (FAIs) in the Greer, SC area, assigning, tracking, and managing inspection assignments while working directly with customers and KBR to meet quality standards and schedule expectations. Key duties include conducting FAIs, providing onsite and remote support at customer or supplier sites, coordinating inspection schedules, using AS9102 software to generate reports, and delivering estimates and quotes during the proposal process. The role also involves performing tests, audits, source inspections, sampling inspections, root‑cause analysis, follow‑up audits, statistical monitoring, maintaining QMS documents, training personnel, and leading advanced quality initiatives such as Six Sigma and manufacturing process control. • Conduct and document AS9102 First‑Article Inspections (FAIs) onsite and remotely. • Assign, track, and manage FAI assignments for the KBR team in Greer, SC. • Coordinate inspection schedules and requirements with customers and suppliers. • Generate FAI reports using AS9102 software and provide estimates/quotes. • Perform tests, audits, and source inspections to ensure contract and specification compliance. • Utilize inspection tools and measuring equipment for sampling inspections. • Lead root‑cause analysis and conduct follow‑up audits to verify corrective actions. • Collect and analyze statistical data to monitor quality trends. • Maintain and update QMS documentation and training materials. • Provide technical leadership on Six Sigma, variation reduction, and manufacturing process control. • Prepare and present quality metrics, progress reports, and program reviews.

What You Bring
Basic qualifications require U.S. citizenship, a bachelor’s degree in engineering, materials, supply chain, management, business, or a technical discipline (or equivalent experience), and at least two years of experience in manufacturing, quality, or engineering, preferably in aerospace electronics. Candidates must be self‑starters with strong communication skills, analytical ability, risk‑assessment expertise, and experience leading problem‑solving teams. Preferred qualifications include a proven track record of close supplier collaboration, Green Belt or higher Lean certification, experience with automotive or aerospace products, and training in RCCA, process mapping, FMEAs, control plans, APQP/PPAP, or Six Sigma tools. • Meet basic qualifications: U.S. citizenship, bachelor's degree in engineering (or equivalent), and 2+ years of manufacturing/quality experience.
