About the Role
In this role you will manage Indigenous community strategy projects, delegate tasks, prepare and review planning documents, lead engagement strategies and meetings, synthesize research, support policy development, and communicate professionally with clients and community members. You will also contribute to business development and mentor junior staff while committing to continuous learning. • Manage and coordinate Indigenous community strategy projects such as comprehensive community plans and land‑use plans. • Delegate project tasks to team members and provide direction, guidance, review, and feedback. • Prepare, contribute to, and review planning documents, reports, engagement summaries, and final plans. • Lead development and implementation of community engagement strategies and materials. • Facilitate meetings and engagement sessions with clients, community leaders, and members. • Synthesize research, planning inputs, and engagement outcomes to identify key themes. • Support policy development for land‑use and other community plans based on research and engagement. • Contribute to business development by preparing proposals, work plans, and meeting potential clients. • Mentor and coach junior staff, providing technical direction and career development support. • Participate actively in professional associations and committees to enhance Dillon’s corporate profile. • Develop and deliver Indigenous consultation programs and communication materials for diverse clients. • Facilitate workshops, meetings, and provide mentorship to junior staff.

Required qualifications include a degree in planning, geography, environmental science or a related field, full membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners and the Planning Institute of BC, and knowledge of Indigenous, municipal, provincial and federal planning frameworks. Strong written and verbal communication, ability to work in a fast‑paced consulting environment, and flexibility to work across time zones are essential. Candidates should have 6‑8 years of consulting experience, a track record of working with Indigenous communities on land‑use and community planning, policy development, and consultation programs, as well as demonstrated project management, facilitation, and mentorship skills. A valid driver’s license is required for travel. • Communicate clearly with clients, community leaders, staff, and other stakeholders, both orally and in writing. • Hold a degree in planning, geography, environmental science, or a related field. • Be a full member of the Canadian Institute of Planners and the Planning Institute of BC. • Possess knowledge of Indigenous, municipal, provincial, and federal planning and legislative frameworks. • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication and report‑writing skills. • Experience 6‑8 years in consulting, preferably with Indigenous community land‑use and community planning projects. • Show culturally‑appropriate planning and engagement approaches with Indigenous communities. • Maintain a valid driver’s license for required travel.
