About the Role
Reporting to a Maintenance Supervisor or Manager, the Maintenance Lead Technician provides direction to a group of technicians to ensure all repairs and maintenance of equipment meet the Company’s safety standards and applicable federal and state regulations. The role covers chassis (diesel and non‑diesel equipment and trucks) and refuse bodywork, including hydraulic, electrical, heating and air‑conditioning systems, and involves diagnosing complex repairs, coaching technicians, conducting external inspections, and scheduling work to reduce shop productivity loss. The Lead Technician maintains expert knowledge of chassis components, refuse bodies, air and hydraulic braking, engine, suspension, drivetrain, steering, and HVAC systems, and performs complex repair and maintenance functions both on‑site and on the road. Responsibilities include line‑maintenance welding and fabrication, directing technicians, inspecting third‑party vendor repairs, performing advanced diagnostics using electronic tools, completing company training programs, and acting as a mentor while handling supervisor duties as needed. • Lead a team of technicians to perform safe, efficient repairs and maintenance on chassis, refuse bodies, hydraulic, electrical, and HVAC systems. • Diagnose complex mechanical issues and coach technicians on diagnostic techniques. • Perform external repair inspections and ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations. • Schedule repair work to minimize shop productivity loss. • Conduct line‑maintenance welding and fabrication. • Inspect third‑party vendor repairs for proper completion. • Use electronic tools to identify malfunctions and perform advanced diagnostics. • Complete required company training programs and act as a mentor. • Assume Maintenance Supervisor duties when needed.

What You Bring
Candidates must be able to perform inspections and repairs on heavy‑duty trucks without supervision across systems such as suspensions, steering, engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical, hydraulics, drivetrain, and diesel emissions. Minimum requirements include at least three years of technician experience with heavy‑duty trucks; OSHA HazCom, Lockout/Tagout, and fire protection compliance experience is a plus, as is one year of supervisory experience, ASE Heavy Truck certifications, and a Class B or higher Commercial Driver’s License. • Minimum 3 years experience servicing heavy‑duty trucks. • Ability to work independently on suspensions, steering, engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical, hydraulics, drivetrain, and diesel emissions. • Experience with OSHA HazCom, Lockout/Tagout, and fire protection regulations (preferred). • At least 1 year supervisory or lead‑technician experience (preferred). • ASE Heavy Truck Certifications T1‑T8 (preferred). • Class B (or higher) Commercial Driver’s License (preferred) and valid driver’s license.
