About the Role

As part of HDR’s Building Engineering Services Group, you will help design the critical infrastructure that powers the digital age and shapes the spaces where people work, connect, and thrive. From high‑performance data centers to dynamic commercial environments, your work will support technological advancement, sustainability, and human experience. • Collaborate with architects and engineering leads, mentor EITs, and drive design projects. • Lead and coordinate the structural design team through development and contract phases. • Conduct code compliance meetings with governing agencies. • Facilitate on‑site design development sessions with project managers and other disciplines. • Manage workload to deliver design and construction documents on schedule. • Handle addenda, RFIs, change proposals, and integrate changes into project documents. • Perform site visits and oversee construction administration. • Write and edit structural specifications, select materials, and perform calculations. • Review structural documents for conflicts and ensure adherence to industry standards.

What You Bring

• Master’s degree in Structural or Architectural Engineering (preferred). • 5–8 years of progressive structural engineering experience on complex projects. • Strong communication, emerging leadership, and entrepreneurial mindset. • Structural Engineer (SE) license or NCEES eligibility for Illinois (preferred). • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering. • Professional Engineer (PE) license for the state of employment. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and engineering software (AutoCAD, RISA, STAAD, SAP2000, Tedds, RAM, ETABS, SAFE). • Prior experience in an engineering consulting firm.
