About the Role

Assignments include preparing signing, pavement marking, signal lighting, temporary traffic control, and intelligent transportation system (ITS) plans, as well as conducting field work to collect traffic counts, inventories, and measurements. The role requires proficiency with Microsoft Office, ProjectWise, HSC, and Synchro, and a working knowledge of PennDOT and PTC standards. • Design signing, pavement markings, signal lighting, temporary traffic control, and ITS plans for varied projects. • Prepare plans for bridge replacements, streetscapes, interstate or interchange reconstructions. • Conduct field work to collect traffic counts, inventories, and measurements. • Apply PennDOT and PTC standards in plan preparation.

What You Bring

HDR is seeking a dynamic, diverse, and talented traffic designer for our Pennsylvania offices. The position works under senior traffic engineers on a variety of traffic design projects, ranging from small bridge replacements to large interstate or interchange reconstructions, and may involve multidisciplinary work. • Use Microsoft Office, ProjectWise, HSC, and Synchro software. • Hold a master’s degree (preferred). • Obtain the EIT certification within six months (required for career progression). • Possess experience in traffic planning and design. • Have a working knowledge of PennDOT and PTC specifications. • Hold a bachelor’s degree. • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills. • Ability to multitask across multiple projects.
