About the Role

The Recycling Center Maintenance Technician is responsible for repairing and maintaining recycling equipment, heavy machinery, and light trucks to ensure safe and productive operations. Typical tasks include routine maintenance and repair of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems such as sorting screens, optical sorters, magnets, eddy currents, balers, conveyors, and compactors. Key duties involve diagnosing mechanical issues using diagnostic tools and manuals, executing repairs and preventive maintenance according to schedule, overhauling or replacing components, and completing work orders with detailed field service reports. The role also requires daily consumables reporting, communication with supervisors, equipment operators, and vendors, and occasional installation and repair of plumbing, HVAC, odor, and negative‑pressure systems. • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and PLC systems. • Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on recycling equipment, compactors, balers, conveyors, trucks, and related systems. • Overhaul or replace machine components and execute work orders with accurate reporting. • Communicate with supervisors, operators, and vendors to coordinate maintenance activities. • Complete daily consumables reports and log hours, fuel, and oil usage in fleet management software. • Install, repair, and maintain plumbing, HVAC, odor, and negative‑pressure systems. • Program simple PLC instructions to improve plant monitoring and performance. • Follow all safety policies and procedures. • Maintain required certifications: trade school, electronic diagnostics, welding/fabrication, PLC programming.

What You Bring

Candidates must have at least one year of building maintenance experience and three years working on equipment in a manufacturing or distribution setting, along with knowledge of Tier 4 emission systems, welding or fabrication, PLC programming, and a valid driver’s license. Relevant certifications include a mechanical or trade school certificate and electronic diagnostics training. • Possess at least 1–3 years of equipment maintenance experience in manufacturing/distribution. • Hold a valid driver’s license.
