About the Role

• Organize, plan, and schedule estimate preparation, facilitating meetings and assigning work. • Ensure complete, reliable estimates and adjust assignments as needed. • Develop trade partner strategy, issue invitations to bid, and obtain BIM documents. • Conduct quantity surveys, evaluate site logistics, and apply cost history to pricing. • Meet company margin goals, prepare margin plans, and present Bid Day or owner presentations. • Provide cost modeling, value analysis, target value delivery, and support design teams. • Prepare or oversee self‑performed work scopes with accurate pricing. • Build and maintain relationships with operations staff, design partners, trade partners, and owners. • Participate in group estimating meetings and contribute to industry knowledge. • Mentor less‑experienced team members and advance group capabilities.

What You Bring

Mortenson is seeking an MEP Estimator III – Process Piping to lead estimating efforts for multiple projects, including large‑scale work. The hybrid role is based in one of several regional offices such as Chicago, Denver, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Nashville, Phoenix, Portland, Salt Lake City, or Seattle. The position involves organizing estimate preparation, ensuring reliable pricing, and supporting design teams. The role requires an associate or bachelor’s degree in Estimating, Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience, and a minimum of six years in the construction industry. Candidates must be detail‑oriented, proficient with BIM and cost‑history software, able to lead estimator teams, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously while traveling up to 20%. • Work effectively with diverse backgrounds and organizational levels. • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Estimating, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. • Minimum six years of construction industry experience. • Detail‑oriented with ability to manage and lead multiple projects simultaneously. • Proficiency with building/estimating software and BIM for quantifying work. • Experience leading estimator teams on large projects and using cost‑history software. • Ability to prepare self‑performed estimates, analyze past data, and assess schedule and logistics impacts. • Strong customer‑service attitude, active listening, and effective communication skills. • Willingness to travel up to 20% and present deliverables. • Knowledge of construction law, business practices, and EEO regulations. • Capability to perform quantity surveys for MEPT systems, conduct value analysis, and validate design. • Understanding of productivity standards, local labor rates, and equipment coordination. • Ability to cultivate relationships with trade partners, design engineers, and industry professionals. • No visa sponsorship; must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
