About the Role
The Director of Multi‑State Government Relations will lead a nationwide program that engages governors’ offices, state legislators, economic development agencies, and trade associations. Reporting to the U.S. Vice President of Government & Institutional Relations, the role collaborates with regional business unit leaders, state operations, and corporate functions to align policy work with business objectives. Key duties include shaping state and local policy, representing Hitachi Energy to government officials, and coordinating advocacy on regulatory and energy matters in states where the company has a strong presence. The position also involves building partnerships with chambers of commerce, energy and manufacturing associations, and community stakeholders, as well as developing regional communications and thought‑leadership assets. • Develop and execute a nationwide state and local government‑relations strategy. • Cultivate a multistate program that aligns with business objectives and policy goals. • Build and maintain relationships with governors, legislators, economic‑development groups, and trade associations. • Lead engagement in key states, host site visits, and advocate on regulatory and energy topics. • Partner with chambers of commerce, energy organizations, manufacturing associations, and community stakeholders. • Collaborate across business units to shape local and state policy priorities. • Create communications tools, localized messaging, and regional thought‑leadership initiatives. • Coordinate with internal communications and third‑party resources to support advocacy.

What You Bring
Candidates must hold at least a bachelor’s degree and possess 10‑12 years of experience in multistate government affairs or a related consultancy, with a track record of advancing grid‑related policies. Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree, experience in electrical‑grid and manufacturing policy, strong leadership, change‑management capabilities, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Hold a bachelor’s degree with 10‑12 years of multistate government‑relations experience; master’s degree preferred. • Demonstrated success advancing grid, AI/data‑center, energy‑generation, and manufacturing policies. • Experience in electrical‑grid and manufacturing policy, regulatory research, and large matrixed organizations. • Strong leadership, change‑management mindset, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
