About the Role
The Senior Design Engineer will drive new product development and provide ongoing engineering support for aerospace electrical connectors and hold‑down release mechanisms. The position applies solid engineering principles, practical problem solving, and utilizes PLM and CAD tools to achieve program milestones on both lead and supporting projects. Projects span internal R&D, new product introduction, sustaining engineering, cost‑out initiatives, sourcing changes, and new business campaigns. The role involves leading tasks across the product engineering team, coordinating with test laboratories, production support, and integrated product teams, and guiding less‑experienced engineers. Responsibilities include generating and reviewing technical documentation such as models, drawings, FEA reports, test plans, schedules, design guides, and operating manuals, as well as managing requirements and risk registers. The engineer will also represent the department in Material Review Board meetings, conduct failure‑analysis investigations, and collaborate with customers, vendors, and internal analysis groups to validate designs against regulatory and performance standards. • Lead product development and sustaining engineering tasks within cross‑functional teams. • Coordinate with internal/external test labs, production support, and integrated product teams to meet milestones. • Mentor junior engineers on project activities and guide failure analysis investigations. • Produce and review models, drawings, FEA reports, test plans, schedules, design guides and operating manuals. • Manage program requirements and risks using formal risk‑management tools. • Interface with customers, vendors, and internal analysis teams for design validation. • Represent Engineering on Material Review Board (MRB) and drive root‑cause corrective actions. • Support marketing and sales with technical expertise during customer visits.

What You Bring
Candidates must hold a BS degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering or Materials Science from an ABET‑accredited program and possess more than five years of aerospace product development experience, including proficiency with SolidWorks CAD, ENOVIA PLM, and MS Office tools. Familiarity with GD&T, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, and experience with MRB processes and product qualification activities are required. Applicants must be U.S. persons per ITAR, authorized to work without sponsorship, and reside within 50 miles of Camarillo, CA; relocation assistance is not provided. • Hold a BS in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering or Materials Science (ABET accredited) and >5 years of aerospace product development experience. • Proficient in SolidWorks CAD, ENOVIA PLM, and MS Office; knowledgeable in GD&T and geometric analysis. • Eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship, meet ITAR U.S. person requirements, and reside within 50 mi of Camarillo, CA.
