About the Role

The role assists in handling hourly energy transactions across trading hubs in the Western Interconnection, supporting the power demands of retail customers in a 24/7 operation. It also optimizes surplus generation capacity and transmission in hourly bilateral markets, administers sub‑hourly markets by submitting bids, schedules, and transfer tags, and collaborates with front‑office personnel to implement risk‑management strategies that maximize asset utilization. The position upholds safety‑compliance standards inherent in PSE’s operating and field procedures and promotes a culture of total safety. • Markets and trades surplus energy, transmission, and capacity products in wholesale markets. • Assists in scheduling/tagging transmission, energy, and reserves. • Learns and applies the economic dispatch plan. • Analyzes and assesses regional power markets. • Assists in managing planned or unplanned transmission or generation outages. • Assists in the creation and development of strategies to flow power throughout WECC markets. • Operates on rotating shift assignments to cover 24/7 demand for electricity.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical or commercial field or equivalent education/experience. • Entry level to two years of experience in trading operations. • Strong analytic and research skills. • Basic knowledge of financial and accounting principles. • Good organizational and communication skills. • Ability to operate in a fast‑paced environment. • Ability to make decisions independently and solve problems quickly. • Ability to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating shift schedule. • Knowledge of the Pacific Northwest regional transmission system. • Knowledge of the Western Systems Power Pool (WSPP) agreement. • Relevant trading or utility experience.

The pay range for this position is $80,200.00 – $115,800.00, and the role is eligible for annual goal‑based incentive bonuses.
