About the Role
The Southwest Water Group Lead will be based primarily in Los Angeles and will develop Mott MacDonald’s water practice across California and Texas, working closely with the Western US operations and North American leadership. In this role the leader will support the Division General Manager and Resource Manager, act as a visible ambassador for the firm’s brand, and oversee a team of Discipline Leaders. • Create and execute a growth plan for Southwest water projects. • Engage with clients, regulatory agencies, and industry societies to generate business. • Lead and mentor Discipline Leaders and technical staff. • Build the firm’s brand and attract local engineering talent. • Oversee design teams, specialty sub‑consultants, and construction management staff. • Manage resource utilization, hiring, and succession planning with the Resource Manager. • Contribute to divisional operational matters and communicate regional updates.

What You Bring
Candidates must hold a BS in Civil Engineering (Master’s preferred) and be a licensed Professional Engineer in California, with at least 20 years of water‑sector experience and a proven record of business development and project leadership. • BS in Civil Engineering (Master’s desired) and PE license in California. • Minimum 20 years of water‑sector experience, preferably on California projects. • Proven business development, client relationship, and project lead generation skills. • Strong technical writing, public speaking, and interpersonal abilities. • Ability to evaluate, assemble, and guide project teams. • Willingness to travel occasionally out of town.
