About the Role

The position oversees design‑build project delivery, technical field support, business development, and financial planning, ensuring projects meet SageWater’s high standards and strategic goals. • Manage internal and external resources to deliver design‑build projects and generate schematic designs • Produce and present accurate design documents and draft contract exhibits • Coordinate with pre‑construction and operations staff to gather project requirements and support permit acquisition nationwide • Provide technical support to the Pipe TEST division and address on‑site technical questions • Review and ensure quality of construction documents and maintain mechanical/plumbing technical support across the company • Foster relationships with coworkers, clients, subcontractors, and vendors while promoting innovation and process improvements • Travel as needed to support project launches, troubleshooting, and technical issues • Collaborate with teams to assist project pursuits, develop sales/marketing content, and conduct pre‑award site visits • Serve as primary client contact for project updates, service issues, and technical support; assist with owner communications and estimating inputs • Manage assigned budgets, evaluate external design proposals, analyze operational data, and support long‑term strategic planning for the Engineering division • Monitor and report design, construction schedules, and financial activities; provide regular updates to executive leadership on risks and milestones

The role requires extensive design‑build experience with mechanical and plumbing building systems, large‑scale project leadership, and strong client and stakeholder relationship skills. It is a hybrid full‑time exempt position based in Alexandria, Virginia, with occasional overnight travel, reporting to the Senior Vice President of Pre‑Construction. Candidates must hold a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, be a registered Professional Engineer, and have at least five years of design experience and five years working with mechanical/plumbing contractors. Strong knowledge of building codes, leadership ability, client‑vendor management, and financial acumen are essential.

Benefits

Salary ranges from $165,000 to $190,000 base pay, with bonus opportunities of 15% to 25% of base salary.
