About the Role

In this senior position the incumbent will provide technical leadership, mentor other engineers, coordinate resources, and contribute to emergency response and departmental strategy. • Prepare complex engineering plans, designs, specifications, standards, evaluations, and studies. • Solve unique engineering problems using advanced analytical techniques. • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and design, operation, and maintenance requirements. • Identify potential weaknesses in team work and initiate corrective actions. • Document and share work to strengthen the skill set of PSE’s engineering workforce. • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and training to other engineering staff. • Tailor problem solutions to PSE’s business environment and stay current on industry best practices. • Coordinate and review work of engineers, engineering assistants, field technicians, contractors, and consultants. • Plan and schedule engineering resources to meet departmental needs. • Develop and execute department strategy aligned with overall business objectives. • Support emergency response and system restoration efforts during weather events or failures.

What You Bring

The engineer must bring extensive experience with electrical design, NESC and IEEE codes, and QA/QC processes, while upholding PSE’s safety‑sensitive standards and ethical conduct. Effective verbal and written communication to diverse audiences is essential. Candidates need a bachelor’s degree (or PE license) in a relevant engineering discipline and roughly ten years of experience in planning, design, cost estimating, and project execution, with a strong record of interpersonal and communication skills. Additional utility‑industry and substation design experience are preferred. • Communicate solutions verbally and in writing to audiences with varied technical backgrounds, including public forums. • Bachelor of Science degree (or PE license) in electrical, mechanical, civil, or related engineering field. • At least 10 years of experience in planning, design, specification preparation, maintenance, project cost estimating, and scheduling. • Advanced technical and scientific expertise with strong interpersonal and communication skills. • Experience leading engineering projects and collaborating with internal and external customers. • Minimum of 10 years of substation physical design experience. • Prior experience working within the utility industry. • Possession of a Professional Engineering License. • Knowledge of engineering economics and utility accounting practices. • Experience on complex engineering projects.
