About the Role

As part of HDR’s Transportation Business Group, you will help shape systems that move people and goods safely, efficiently, and sustainably. The work spans designing resilient highways, iconic bridges, transit, rail, aviation, ports, and marine infrastructure, supporting economic vitality, public safety, and quality of life. Multidisciplinary teams collaborate to solve complex mobility challenges with technical excellence and a deep understanding of community needs. The Right of Way Project Manager leads and develops a team of right‑of‑way professionals across power, transportation, water, and oil‑and‑gas projects. Responsibilities include coordinating market drivers, delivering project services, improving technical competencies, collaborating with operations and marketing, implementing quality assurance, and supporting business development and strategic planning. • Provide area leadership of technical capabilities within the right‑of‑way business class • Lead technical tasks including cost estimates, title reports, scheduling, risk analysis, negotiation, acquisition, relocation, property management, and landowner liaison during construction • Build and retain strong relationships with team members, project managers, and client development managers throughout Montana • Offer strategic and tactical input on business trends and local office planning • Facilitate teamwork, communication, and work‑sharing across area offices, business classes, management, marketing, and staff • Establish and maintain positive client relationships • Maintain appropriate QA/QC procedures and best practices • Participate in or manage projects to meet assigned utilization rates • Prioritize activities across Montana to align with market sector and business group objectives • Manage training and licensing requirements and identify continuing‑education opportunities • Champion growth opportunities for the right‑of‑way practice • Support area pursuits and actively engage in proposal development • Function as Project Manager, taking responsibility for project production • Engage directly with industry and public clients on marketing, project production, and related issues • Implement, monitor, and support company policy • Collaborate with other project managers, regional and national directors, and marketing staff on local and national efforts

What You Bring

• 5+ years of project management experience (preferred) • Broad right‑of‑way experience across diverse markets and knowledge of Uniform and Non‑Uniform Act procedures • Proven ability to manage right‑of‑way projects effectively • Demonstrated capability to establish, grow, and manage a statewide right‑of‑way program and staff • Experience managing budgets and preparing project financial reports • Ability to develop contracts and implement capital improvements • Knowledge of client bases and business environments related to right‑of‑way services • Strong project management skills • Strong attention to detail • Bachelor’s degree in a related field • 7 years of related experience • Minimum 2 years of project management experience • Excellent organizational, project management, and written/verbal communication skills; ability to interact with design teams
