About the Role

• Lead primary design (concept, FEED, detail) of AIS/GIS/Hybrid substations up to 400 kV for utility companies/developers across UK, Europe, Middle East, SE Asia, Australia; experience in HV/LV distribution for oil & gas, offshore, thermal, hydro, solar, wind, BESS is a plus. • Prepare secondary system requirements: key SLDs, protection & control SLDs, AC/DC SLDs, LVAC design, control/protection/interlocking block diagrams, schematic reviews, cable and interconnection schedules. • Perform substation primary engineering calculations: sag tension, SCF, conductor sizing, earthing, lightning protection, lighting, CT/VT sizing, battery sizing. • Design equipment layouts for outdoor switchyards, indoor substations, trench/tray, lighting, earthing, lightning protection, EKD, and guide technicians from a technical/quality perspective. • Prepare technical specifications and data sheets for transformers, DG sets, AIS/GIS/Hybrid switchgear, cables, UPS, battery chargers, and distribution boards. • Prepare and evaluate technical bids and documentation. • Review vendor drawings and schematics for HV/LV equipment. • Prepare tender documents and BOQs for construction. • Review contractor design documentation as part of PMC/Owner’s engineer. • Use system study software (ETAP) to model electrical systems and perform load flow, short‑circuit, and motor‑starting studies; interpret results. • Coordinate interdisciplinary activities and liaise effectively with the lead office. • Interpret scopes and identify deliverables from tender/RFP documents. • Work independently with the lead office as part of an integrated team. • Lead medium/large projects, manage and supervise teams to ensure timely delivery. • Mentor junior engineers and technicians, developing skills and efficiency. • Handle multiple responsibilities including line management, resource planning, recruitment, and training needs alongside project delivery. • Provide hands‑on preparation of deliverables as project needs require. • Prepare fee estimates and proposals. • Leverage technology to create innovative solutions. • Promote health & safety awareness and share best practices through knowledge‑sharing sessions.

What You Bring

• Understand substation automation systems (SAS), SCADA I/O lists, schematics and architecture. • Size equipment such as transformers, generators, HV/LV cables, AC UPS, and capacitor banks. • Hold a degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university. • Primary design experience (concept, FEED, detail) of AIS/GIS/Hybrid substations up to 400 kV; preferred experience with utilities in UK, Europe, Middle East, SE Asia, Australia; plus experience in oil & gas, offshore, thermal, hydro, solar, wind, BESS projects. • Understand project commercial aspects, monitor costs and flag variations. • Use electrical design software such as Dialux and ETAP. • Proficient in MS Office and basic AutoCAD/BIM 360/ACC, Navisworks; experience with Revit for 3D model review. • Communicate effectively in written and oral forms.
