About the Role
• Perform welding and burning operations. • Repair carbon‑steel pipe in shop and field per ASME B31.1, ensuring X‑ray‑approved welds. • Read and interpret blueprint (SR) drawings. • Service pumps, valves, PRVs, traps, piping systems, expansion joints, and anchors. • Execute proficient pipefitting tasks. • Train and assist other Mechanic 2s and welders. • Follow DOT regulations when required. • Lift and operate tools/machinery up to 50 lb unassisted. • Work in confined spaces, on ladders or stairs, and in all adverse indoor/outdoor conditions, including hot areas.

What You Bring
The role involves a range of mechanical duties, including welding, pipe repair, blueprint interpretation, and maintenance of steam‑system components such as pumps, valves, and expansion joints. The incumbent must be proficient in pipefitting, locate system manholes and MLVS, and support training of fellow mechanics and welders. Candidates must hold a high school diploma or equivalent and a Massachusetts Journeyman Pipe‑fitter’s license; the ability to obtain and maintain a welder qualification (WPQ) is preferred. Knowledge of ASME B31.1 pressure‑piping standards and DOT regulations is also required. The position requires a pre‑employment physical exam, a valid driver’s license with a clean record, and the use of protective equipment such as half‑face respirators or PAPR. Employees must be able to lift up to 50 lb, work in confined spaces, climb ladders or stairs, and operate in all indoor and outdoor conditions, including hot environments. • Understand steam properties and locate system manholes & MLVs. • Hold a High School Diploma or equivalent. • Possess a MA Journeyman Pipe‑fitter’s license. • Obtain and maintain current Welder Qualification (WPQ) (preferred). • Pass pre‑employment physical exam and drug screen. • Maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record. • Wear required respiratory protection (half‑face respirator or PAPR).
