About the Role

The apprenticeship combines classroom instruction, laboratory practice and hands‑on training, preparing participants to handle various electronic, mechanical and automation systems in a fulfillment center while following strict safety protocols. Graduates function as Mechatronics Junior Technicians, applying a blend of electronic, mechanical, computer and control expertise to keep high‑performance manufacturing lines operating efficiently. They perform scheduled, predictive and preventive maintenance, troubleshoot system failures, interpret technical specifications and coordinate repairs while observing safety standards. • Install, alter, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electronic, mechanical, control, and robotics equipment in a fulfillment/distribution center. • Shadow technical advisors and follow safety‑focused work processes on the shop floor. • Interpret and work with technical documentation and computer systems in both classroom and field settings. • Operate and maintain material‑transfer conveyors under experienced guidance. • Diagnose, locate, remove, replace, adjust, and return malfunctioning components to service. • Program and work with PLCs alongside Automation Engineers in a laboratory environment. • Service robotic systems with Robotics Engineers and OEM partners. • Conduct scheduled, predictive, and preventive maintenance on high‑performance manufacturing systems. • Analyze technical specifications, troubleshoot system failures, and coordinate repairs with other technicians. • Communicate effectively with machine operators and adhere to safety standards. • Travel to attend 12‑week training at one of three regional sites (Indiana, Pennsylvania, Georgia/North Carolina/Texas). • Perform repetitive bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, twisting, standing and walking. • Work in confined spaces, dust, fumes, temperature extremes, noise, vibration, and on concrete for extended shifts. • Push/pull wheeled equipment up to 100 lb and maneuver bulky parts.

What You Bring

Apprentices shadow technical advisors, follow work processes on the shop floor and collaborate within a team both in school and on the job. They become proficient with technical documentation, computer systems, material‑transfer conveyors, PLCs and robotic equipment under the guidance of experienced engineers. Required qualifications include being at least 18 years old, holding a high school diploma or GED, achieving a minimum qualifying score on a Mechanical Aptitude Test, and being able to travel for a 12‑week training period at one of several regional sites. Basic computer skills such as email, word processing and spreadsheet use are also required. Preferred experience consists of at least one year of preventive or predictive maintenance, familiarity with mechanical or electrical components, and work with compressors and pneumatic systems. The role involves repetitive motions such as bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching and twisting, as well as lifting parts averaging 20 lb and occasionally up to 49 lb. Working conditions may include confined spaces, dust, fumes, temperature extremes, noise, vibration and extended periods on concrete surfaces. • Minimum 18 years old with high school diploma or GED. • Pass Mechanical Aptitude Test with qualifying score. • Basic computer skills (email, word processing, spreadsheets, internet browsing). • Preferred: 1+ year experience in preventive/predictive maintenance, mechanical/electrical components, and compressors or pneumatics. • Lift parts/tools averaging 20 lb, up to 49 lb occasionally.
