Job Highlights
About the Role
• Operate trucks in compliance with WM Safety, OSHA, DOT, and all local, state, and federal regulations. • Perform pre‑ and post‑trip vehicle inspections and complete Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports. • Immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, accidents, or property damage to Operations Manager or Dispatch. • Attend required training programs, briefings, and meetings as directed. • Collaborate with Operations Manager to improve route efficiency and share best practices. • Notify management of service interruptions such as closed streets, heavy receptacles, or safety hazards. • Communicate customer requests to Operations Manager or Dispatch. • Fully unload receptacles and leave the customer's site clean and free of debris. • Follow assigned routes, complete end‑of‑day documentation, and check‑out procedures. • Assist fellow drivers as needed to meet customer service goals.

What You Bring
Drivers at WM operate heavy‑duty trucks equipped with front, side, or rear‑end lift attachments to transport waste, recyclables, or roll‑off containers. Depending on the line of business, they may handle commercial, residential, or roll‑off routes, often navigating congested roads, alleys, driveways, and tight industrial spaces. Skilled backing maneuvers are essential for safely moving containers that can exceed 1,000 lb. The role requires strict compliance with Waste Management safety policies, OSHA, DOT regulations and all applicable laws, as well as diligent pre‑ and post‑trip vehicle inspections documented on a Driver Vehicle Inspection Report. Drivers must promptly report unsafe conditions, incidents, or service interruptions to management and maintain clear communication with dispatch and customers. Candidates must have at least one year of recent experience operating a vehicle that requires a CDL or equivalent military driving experience, be at least 18 years old, and possess a valid Class A or Class B CDL with an air‑brake endorsement. Legal eligibility to work in the United States is required, and a high‑school diploma or GED is preferred. The position involves frequent standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, reaching, and other physical activities, and may require sitting, talking, and hearing in various work environments. Reasonable accommodations can be made for individuals with disabilities. • Minimum 1 year recent CDL or equivalent military driving experience within the past 7 years. • Must be at least 18 years old and legally eligible to work in the United States. • Hold a valid Class A or Class B CDL with an air‑brake endorsement. • Preferred: High School Diploma or GED.
