About the Role

An opportunity has arisen for a Building Services Manager to join Galliford Try in Edinburgh. The role involves managing outsourced design production and directing the design and installation of mechanical and electrical services to meet project targets of time, cost, and quality. You will lead Mechanical and Electrical Services Consultants and subcontractors through design, installation, testing, and commissioning, and you will be responsible for achieving the highest health and safety standards on site while fostering a positive H&S culture. You will review, develop, and manage safety and quality plans to ensure compliance with Galliford Try’s Business Management System and health, safety, and environmental standards, and you will be measured monthly on H&S performance. Managing all discipline sub‑contractors, you will ensure they produce detailed contract programmes, weekly returns of labour, plant and materials, and adhere to a "Best Quality" culture that rejects inferior workmanship and complies with drawings and specifications. • Manage outsourced design production and direct M&E services installation to meet time, cost, and quality targets. • Lead Mechanical & Electrical Services Consultants and subcontractors through design, installation, testing, and commissioning. • Ensure highest health & safety standards on site and foster a positive H&S culture. • Develop and maintain safety and quality plans in line with Galliford Try’s BMS and SHE standards. • Oversee sub‑contractor programmes, weekly labour/plant/material returns, and enforce best‑quality workmanship. • Maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders via approved PR procedures.

What You Bring

Candidates should hold a recognised Building Services qualification (HNC or degree) and have full knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and CDM 2015. Experience with a main contractor in a building services role is advantageous, and basic sub‑contract, commercial and project‑management skills are required. • Hold a recognised Building Services qualification (HNC/Degree) and full knowledge of Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and CDM 2015. • Possess basic sub‑contract, commercial, and project‑management skills (programming, cash‑flow analysis, resource planning).
