About the Role
The Relief Driver – CDL (B) operates collection trucks safely while providing prompt, courteous waste removal services. The driver must ensure the vehicle complies with the company's safety standards before use and adhere to all state and federal regulations. Daily vehicle condition reports (VCRs) are completed to address any defects promptly. Key duties include performing thorough pre‑ and post‑operation vehicle inspections, driving assigned routes, loading and compacting refuse, and delivering waste to disposal sites. Drivers interact courteously with customers and dispatchers, monitor waste for violations, and clean any accidental spills. Continuous vehicle monitoring, cleaning of equipment, and completion of route, productivity, and safety reports are required to maintain productivity and safety standards. • Perform complete pre‑ and post‑operation inspection of the vehicle to ensure tire pressure, fluid levels, safety equipment, gauges, and controls are in proper working order and report any safety issues. • Safely operate the heavy truck along the designated route and to the disposal site, following the route sheet, map, and dispatcher or supervisor assignments. • Operate manual and/or automatic controls to lift and load refuse, operate the compactor, and dispose of collected material at the designated facility. • Courteously interact with customers, dispatchers, and others daily to ensure timely and professional service of all customer routes. • Identify unsatisfactory waste containers and tag them according to departmental procedures. • Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable material. • Clean areas around accidental waste spills, adhering to all applicable safety standards and policies. • Continuously monitor vehicle condition to ensure operational readiness, minimizing downtime and cleaning waste from the packer blade and truck body as appropriate. • Complete required route/productivity sheets, VCRs, and other reports as needed. • Maintain adherence to productivity standards to ensure timely and efficient customer service. • Follow all required safety policies and procedures. • Actively participate in the Company’s ReSOP program. • Provide good customer service skills to meet and exceed expectations, acting professionally, courteously, and cooperatively toward customers and co‑workers. • Adhere to company policies and promote safety standards without taking inappropriate risks.

What You Bring
Qualified candidates demonstrate strong customer service skills, effective time management, and reliable follow‑through on tasks. They consistently follow company policies, promote safety, take pride in their work, and preferably have two years of commercial truck driving experience. Applicants must hold a Class B or higher Commercial Driver’s License with an air‑brakes endorsement. • Demonstrate good time management skills to complete responsibilities efficiently and safely. • Exhibit strong follow‑through ability, adhering to work schedules and addressing challenges as they arise. • Two years of prior experience driving commercial trucks preferred. • Class B or higher Commercial Driver’s license with air brakes endorsement.
