About the Role
The role supports department goals, maintains high‑quality standards, promotes teamwork, and aligns with WSP's mission and culture within a global firm focused on the energy transition after the acquisition of POWER Engineers. Under general supervision, the engineer will collect and analyze site, survey, GIS, and geotechnical data, perform basic civil engineering research and inspections, execute routine engineering tasks, verify site characteristics, generate accurate documentation, and comply with safety guidelines and company policies. • Collect, compile, and analyze site, survey, GIS, and geotechnical data for project development. • Perform basic civil engineering research, inspections, and ensure compliance with standards and permits. • Execute routine engineering functions and provide technical assistance on design and safety. • Verify site characteristics and support engineering, design, and construction issues. • Produce accurate documentation, drawings, and field logs using electronic systems. • Adhere to safety guidelines, company policies, and ethical decision‑making. • Contribute to transmission line design for new lines, relocations, upgrades, and fiber optic additions.

WSP is searching for an Intermediate Professional Civil Engineer (Transmission Lines) for its Fort Lauderdale, Florida office, joining the Power Delivery Overhead Transmission Line Team and contributing to client objectives and challenges. The position involves design work for new transmission lines, relocations, upgrades, and fiber optic additions, requiring a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, 1‑3 years of relevant experience, a GPA of at least 2.75, strong research and analytical skills, familiarity with design/build processes and civil construction codes, effective communication, self‑leadership, technical writing ability, Microsoft Office proficiency, and a commitment to safety. Preferred qualifications include an Engineering‑in‑Training certification, coursework in structural analysis, concrete and steel design, soil mechanics, foundation design, and surveying, as well as prior civil or structural design drafting experience.
