About the Role

The role is a Senior Design Geotechnical Engineer based in Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide, or Perth, responsible for delivering innovative, cost‑effective geotechnical designs for major infrastructure projects. You will lead advanced analysis, modelling, and reporting, own technical outcomes, manage risks, and identify improvement opportunities while mentoring the team and ensuring compliance with industry standards. Key duties include designing and analyzing foundations, retaining walls, RSS walls, and slope stability solutions; performing advanced modelling for road and rail projects; creating safe temporary works designs; collaborating with civil, structural, and environmental teams; planning and supervising site investigations; and preparing comprehensive geotechnical reports. You will also assess risks, implement mitigation strategies, and drive continuous improvement in design practices. • Lead design and analysis of geotechnical structures, including foundations, retaining walls, RSS walls, and slope stability solutions. • Conduct advanced geotechnical modelling for road and rail infrastructure, covering cut/fill optimisation and anchoring systems. • Develop compliant temporary works designs such as platforms, retaining systems, and excavations. • Collaborate with civil, structural, and environmental teams to integrate geotechnical designs into project frameworks. • Plan and oversee site investigations, including borehole drilling, in‑situ testing, sampling, and monitoring. • Prepare and review Geotechnical Design, Ground Investigation, and Factual Reports. • Assess geotechnical risks and implement effective mitigation strategies. • Provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers, and promote continuous design improvement.

What You Bring

The ideal candidate has over eight years of geotechnical design experience in consultancy or construction, a degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (postgraduate qualifications desirable), and strong communication skills for multidisciplinary engagement. Proficiency in PLAXIS (2D & 3D), other industry software, and programming in Python or Visual Basic is preferred, along with Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status or being close to achieving it. • Minimum 8 years experience in geotechnical design within consultancy or construction projects. • Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering; Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) qualification or near‑completion. • Proficient in PLAXIS (2D & 3D) and industry‑standard software; Python and Visual Basic skills desirable. • Strong communication abilities for engaging multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
