About the Role

The Senior Structural Engineer role supports AECOM's multidisciplinary design team on challenging power‑generation projects, including traditional steam, thermal, renewable, and advanced nuclear technologies such as the innovative stellarator fusion power plant. The position offers flexibility to work remotely or from various Energy offices across the United States. Key responsibilities include leading engineering efforts and delivering Engineering of Record, managing budget and schedule performance, coordinating structural CAD drawings, and developing task lists with hour estimates for business development. The engineer will support multi‑disciplinary collaboration, provide technical expertise for risk assessments and client solutions, perform structural calculations and analysis, oversee the full project life‑cycle, conduct quality control reviews, mentor junior staff, and interact with vendors, regulators, and contractors while ensuring technical and safety standards are met. • Lead engineering efforts and deliver Engineering of Record for projects. • Manage and track discipline team progress against budget and schedule. • Coordinate with structural CAD team to produce engineering drawings. • Develop task lists, hour estimates, and schedules to support business development. • Support multi‑disciplinary collaboration on reports, documents, and drawings. • Provide technical expertise for risk assessments, due diligence, and client solutions. • Perform calculations and create structural analysis models for construction deliverables. • Oversee project life‑cycle from feasibility through commissioning. • Conduct quality control reviews of work produced by others. • Mentor junior engineers and support their professional growth. • Interact with vendors, regulatory agencies, and contractors. • Deliver internal and external presentations; travel as required. • Ensure compliance with technical and safety standards in all design work. • Maintain Professional Engineer (PE) licensure. • Apply design codes such as AISC, ACI 318, IBC, ASCE 7, and OSHA.

What You Bring

Minimum qualifications are a BA/BS in Civil or Structural Engineering with at least six years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, and a background in heavy‑industrial or power‑generation projects. Preferred qualifications include ten years of civil or structural engineering experience, five years as a technical structural lead or engineer of record, Professional Engineer (PE) licensure, advanced steel and reinforced‑concrete design skills, and expertise with codes such as AISC, ACI 318, IBC, ASCE 7, and OSHA. Proficiency in STAAD Pro, AutoCAD 3D, civil drainage, sitework design, and substation structural projects, as well as an innovative mindset, are also valued. • Hold a BA/BS in Civil or Structural Engineering with at least six years of experience. • Possess six or more years of heavy‑industrial or power‑generation experience (preferred ten years). • Have five years of experience as a project technical structural lead or engineer of record. • Demonstrate advanced expertise in structural steel and reinforced concrete design. • Proficient in STAAD Pro and AutoCAD 3D software. • Experienced in civil drainage, sitework design, and substation structural projects. • Exhibit an innovative mindset and openness to new technologies.
