About the Role
The Project Manager will oversee railroad, bridge, and heavy civil sites, handling all aspects of project management such as cost, schedule, staffing, equipment, safety, and contract administration. The role involves leading planning, budgeting, resource allocation, and ensuring construction progresses according to schedule while maintaining fiscal control, quality, and safety standards. Key duties include performing project accounting, developing work plans, and coordinating owners, architects, consultants, contractors, and subcontractors. The manager will also conduct progress meetings, maintain document control, visit active sites, and participate in safety audits and site-specific safety planning. • Lead project planning, budgeting, and resource allocation for railroad and heavy‑civil projects. • Perform project accounting, cost tracking, and financial risk mitigation. • Ensure construction schedules are met and communicate changes to stakeholders. • Develop and convey work plans to field staff, monitoring implementation and adjustments. • Coordinate owners, architects, consultants, contractors, and subcontractors throughout the project lifecycle. • Conduct progress meetings and report on construction activity status. • Maintain project document control and oversee site safety audits and safety plan development. • Perform regular site visits to monitor progress, quality, and safety compliance.

Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field (preferred), the ability to travel throughout the Upper Midwest, and at least five years of heavy-civil project management experience, preferably with railroad bridge construction. Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, the ability to read contract plans, work under pressure, and make logical decisions are also required. • Hold a bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field (preferred). • Possess at least five years of heavy‑civil project management experience, preferably with railroad bridge work. • Demonstrate strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills and the ability to read contract plans. • Ability to travel throughout the Upper Midwest and work effectively under pressure.
