About the Role
A painter works across residential, commercial and industrial sites, preparing surfaces and applying decorative finishes to improve appearance and protection of walls, floors, ceilings and other structures. • Develop and maintain good working relations. • Read technical instructions. • Prepare surfaces for painting and decorating. • Apply water‑borne surface coatings. • Apply solvent‑borne surface coatings. • Hang wallcoverings. • Apply coatings using air and airless spraying. • Produce textured coatings. • Install coving. • Produce decorative effects.

What You Bring
The Painter Apprenticeship is a fixed‑term role located in Coatbridge, North Lanarkshire, offering the nationally agreed apprentice pay rates plus company benefits. Applicants must reside in a North Lanarkshire postcode and the training provider is CITB with a provisional start date of 3 August 2026. No formal qualifications are required; candidates will undergo a pre‑employment assessment and interview. Successful applicants should have the potential to work at SCQF level 6/7, strong communication skills and the ability to build good customer relationships. They must be self‑motivated, able to travel independently within North Lanarkshire, and meet background and identity checks. All roles require the right to work in the UK; visa sponsorship is not offered. Driving a Mears vehicle requires the candidate to be over 21, hold a licence for at least three months and have fewer than nine points. • Chromebook provided to support studies.
