Mechanical Design Engineer (hybrid)
Design and develop mechanical components/assemblies using CAD for Variable Speed Drives.
Job Highlights
About the Role
The engineer will create detailed 3‑D CAD models and design documentation for individual parts and complex assemblies of electrical components and enclosures. This includes performing thorough component layout analyses to pinpoint potential failure points and opportunities for optimization. The design process will be documented and shared with colleagues across the business unit, both locally and globally. Key duties involve preparing drawings for parts, sub‑assemblies, and full‑unit layouts, collaborating with engineers, designers, and manufacturing staff, and exploring software capabilities to devise innovative solutions. A solid grasp of mechanical design principles, engineering standards, material properties, and manufacturing processes is required. The role also demands effective communication, deadline management, SAP/MRP usage to review materials and BOMs, and mentorship of less‑experienced designers. • Create 3‑D CAD models and detailed design documentation for mechanical and electrical assemblies. • Conduct component layout analyses to identify failure points and optimize designs. • Prepare engineering drawings for parts, sub‑assemblies, and full product lines. • Collaborate with cross‑functional engineers, designers, and manufacturing personnel. • Explore and apply advanced design software features to solve engineering challenges. • Apply mechanical design principles, engineering standards, and material knowledge. • Utilize SAP or other MRP systems to review existing materials and bill of materials. • Manage multiple assignments, meet project deadlines, and maintain a positive attitude. • Communicate professionally with internal customers and present technical information. • Provide direction, training, and quality checks for junior design team members.
