About the Role
The Supplier Quality Engineer – Welding Inspection role is fully remote for U.S. candidates and requires roughly 50% travel both domestically and internationally, primarily on weekdays with weekends at home. This entry‑level position focuses on mechanical engineering oversight of utility pole fabrication, ensuring weld quality and compliance rather than performing hands‑on welding. Responsibilities include reviewing weld quality on site and supporting quality system audits of welding shops across the United States and abroad. • Inspect weld quality of steel utility poles at project sites for compliance with specifications and standards. • Audit and qualify weld shops to ensure suppliers meet quality, safety, and performance requirements. • Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (SCAR/NCR, CA/PA). • Conduct ISO and supplier quality system audits, including capacity and conformance checks. • Use SPC, APQP, and other tools to monitor supplier performance and reduce defects. • Collaborate with suppliers, engineering, supply chain, and logistics teams to drive continuous improvement. • Facilitate reporting on supplier quality performance, scorecards, and cost of poor‑quality metrics.

What You Bring
• Travel internationally (~50%) and domestically, with typical Monday‑Friday schedule and weekends at home. • Bachelor’s degree in engineering and experience in weld inspection. • 2+ years of progressive experience in engineering, construction management, or quality assurance. • Strong knowledge of welding inspection standards (AWS D1.1 required). • UT, VI, MPI, or FP experience preferred. • Engineering expertise in fabricated/welded products, preferably in the utility or energy sector. • Ability to interpret and write codes, standards, and specifications. • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills; knowledge of SPC and APQP. • Fluent English with strong written and spoken communication. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. • Willingness to travel 50% internationally and domestically; safe driving record required. • Based in the US near a major airport with a valid Real ID and passport. • Work schedule follows Central Time Zone hours; no sponsorship except TN Visa.
