About the Role

As a Controls Systems Technician with Johnson Controls, you will perform assigned system commissioning using Johnson Controls configuration and commissioning tools, troubleshoot basic HVAC mechanical, electrical, and control problems, and respond to basic warranty calls. Load system-level controller software and perform basic commissioning and diagnostics on controllers and end devices such as sensors and actuators. Complete all required commissioning and as-built documentation while keeping management and the JCI contractor or customer informed of progress and issues. Calibrate systems using basic electronic test equipment and handle administrative tasks including timesheets, expense reports, and on-site paperwork. Communicate with the contractor or customer on arrival and before leaving, and consistently follow safety standards and training, prioritizing employee and subcontractor safety. • Perform system commissioning using Johnson Controls configuration tools. • Troubleshoot and resolve basic HVAC mechanical, electrical, and control issues. • Load and manage system-level controller software. • Conduct diagnostics on controllers and end devices such as sensors and actuators. • Complete required commissioning documentation and as-built records. • Keep management and contractors informed of job progress and issues. • Calibrate systems with basic electronic test equipment. • Complete administrative tasks such as timesheets, expense reports, and on-site documentation. • Communicate with contractors or customers upon arrival and departure from the work site. • Follow all safety standards and attend required safety training. • Test, troubleshoot, and check systems using a multimeter.

What You Bring

The role requires basic computer skills, demonstrated technical aptitude, and the ability to use hand and power tools. Attention to detail, strong communication and listening abilities, and basic knowledge of mechanical HVAC systems are essential. Preferred qualifications include low-voltage wiring skills (0-24 V/120 V), multimeter testing proficiency, HVAC experience, and familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Visio. Depending on location, mounting and termination of low-voltage devices may require special licensing. • Utilize hand and power tools and basic computer applications. • Apply basic knowledge of mechanical HVAC systems and low-voltage wiring (0-24 V/120 V). • Use Microsoft Excel and Visio for documentation. • Possess HVAC experience (preferred) and relevant licensing for low-voltage device installation as required.
