About the Role

• Conduct Section 106 and due‑diligence assessments for infrastructure and energy projects, including field surveys, GIS mapping, and documentation review. • Lead or support consultation meetings and develop data recovery plans for project mitigation. • Perform artifact analysis, curation, and preparation of avoidance/minimization measures for historic resources. • Manage individual project performance and coordinate with clients, agencies, and colleagues. • Maintain clear communication with project teams and assist in business development for NV5’s archaeological practice in the Southeast. • Travel throughout the southeastern United States, including weekends, overtime, and overnight assignments.

What You Bring

Candidates must have professional archaeological experience in North Carolina and a master’s degree in anthropology, archaeology, or a closely related field. An active Register of Professional Archaeologists (RPA) membership or equivalent qualification under 36 CFR Part 61 is required, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office, ArcGIS, and GPS equipment. A valid driver’s license (or ability to obtain one) is also necessary. The position requires a mix of field and office work, including long periods of standing, walking, and climbing, as well as the ability to lift up to 30 lb frequently and 50 lb occasionally. Travel throughout the southeastern United States, including weekends, overtime, and overnight assignments, is expected. Office duties involve repetitive motions such as typing and using a computer screen for extended periods. • Professional archaeological experience in North Carolina. • Master’s degree in anthropology, archaeology, or related field. • Active membership in the Register of Professional Archaeologists or equivalent qualification under 36 CFR Part 61. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, ArcGIS, and GPS equipment for site delineation. • Valid driver’s license (or ability to obtain one). • Experience as archaeological field director or project manager. • Knowledge of Southeast U.S. archaeology. • Experience with DOT or energy‑related projects (FERC, Corps‑regulated pipelines, transmission lines). • Experience conducting Native American consultations. • Ability to stand, walk, climb, and perform repetitive motions in field and office settings. • Lift/push/pull up to 30 lb frequently, up to 50 lb occasionally.
