About the Role
An exciting opportunity for a Production Controller has arisen within our submarines area in Derby. In this role, you will be the single point of contact for planning capacity across an identified group of work centres and operate effectively with other roles that participate in planning and execution activities across the internal supply chain. You will ensure the agreed production plan meets customer requirements while balancing load, capacity, and business priorities, so that the executive planning system reflects a committed plan that can be used to measure performance, with corrective actions identified to mitigate risks. • Collaborate with Production Planners and Production Leaders to align production plans with material requirement dates and business priorities. • Identify and escalate ERP data integrity issues to ensure accurate WIP status and bookings. • Monitor real‑time planning parameters and performance factors to support informed decision‑making. • Complete all paperwork, documentation, and compliance requirements before WIP leaves the cell. • Coordinate with Logistics to ensure tooling availability and readiness for production. • Commit short‑term production plans, considering resources, capacity, and machine availability while adhering to policies and RRMS.

What You Bring
The ideal candidate holds a degree or relevant professional qualification and has essential experience in production planning and control within manufacturing or P&CC. Desirable experience includes load and capacity management and familiarity with Manufacturing Execution Systems. The role requires decisive decision‑making under challenging circumstances, personal development drive, and strong influencing and teamwork skills. Rolls‑Royce Submarines, with over 60 years of experience designing and supporting nuclear propulsion plants for the UK Royal Navy, requires a Security Check clearance, which we will support if needed. Applicants must be UK nationals or, where MoD‑approved, dual nationals, and priority will be given to employees at high risk. The salary grade (7‑10) depends on skills and experience, and candidates should inform their current manager of their application. • Hold a degree or relevant professional qualification. • Possess essential experience in production planning and control within manufacturing or P&CC. • Have desirable experience in load and capacity management and knowledge of Manufacturing Execution Systems. • Demonstrate ability to make decisions and take responsibility under challenging circumstances. • Show strong influencing skills and work effectively across teams.
