About the Role

Key duties include serving as client manager and, as needed, acting as Principal, Project Manager, Technical Lead, or Quality Manager on projects; identifying and developing new project opportunities; and championing pursuits in studies, master planning, design, and system optimization. The leader will engage in industry associations, take leadership roles, submit conference abstracts, and encourage team participation, while also supporting HDR’s One Water Institute through applied research. Management of the Southern California wastewater market sector staff, in coordination with the Water Business Group Manager and Market Sector Director, is also required. • Set vision and strategy for Southern California wastewater research, planning, design, and engineering services. • Serve as client manager and act as Principal, Project Manager, Technical Lead, or Quality Manager on projects. • Identify, develop, and champion new project opportunities across studies, master planning, design, and system optimization. • Lead and participate in industry associations, forums, and conference submissions; encourage team involvement. • Support HDR’s One Water Institute by leading applied research projects (e.g., Water Research Foundation). • Manage Southern California wastewater market sector staff, coordinating with Water Business Group Manager and Market Sector Director.

What You Bring

• Preferred: B.S. in Engineering, Professional Engineer license, 15+ years Southern California industry experience, proficient with Microsoft Office, estimating and scheduling software. • Required: Bachelor’s in engineering/planning or related field, minimum 10 years industry experience, experience developing and managing strategic marketing programs and client relationships, staff development expertise, active participation in industry associations, ability to collaborate with regional and area leadership, and commitment to HDR values and employee‑owned culture.
