Job Highlights
About the Role
• Lead design of electrical power distribution and control systems for industrial and mining projects. • Prepare and review specifications and datasheets for switchgear, MCCs, transformers, and other equipment. • Conduct power system studies (load flow, short circuit, arc flash) using ETAP or EasyPower. • Integrate safety, regulatory compliance, and risk analysis into system designs. • Develop designs for distribution, motor control, grounding, lighting, and cable support systems. • Perform engineering calculations and guide technical decisions with senior input. • Conduct site reviews, field verifications, and client visits as needed. • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams across offices for seamless project delivery. • Produce technical reports, construction specifications, cost estimates, and design documentation. • Mentor junior staff and contribute to team capability and technical excellence. • Build and maintain strong client relationships through responsive, solutions‑oriented service.

What You Bring
• Minimum 5 years of electrical engineering design experience in heavy industrial projects. • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in BC; eligibility for other jurisdictions preferred. • Knowledge of CSA, ANSI, IEEE standards and applicable codes. • Proficiency with power system modelling software (ETAP, EasyPower) and electrical design tools. • Ability to design distribution, grounding, lightning protection, lighting, fire alarm, heat tracing, and cathodic protection systems. • Experience with industrial site work and compliance with safety regulations. • Familiarity with mills, smelters, mines, refineries, ports, pulp and paper, or renewable energy systems (beneficial). • Understanding of instrumentation, controls, automation, PLC/DCS/HMI systems (asset). • Valid driver’s licence and strong Microsoft Office skills. • Excellent writing and communication abilities; French language skills a plus.

Compensation ranges from $85,100 to $112,800 in western provinces and $77,700 to $107,000 in central provinces, with variations based on education, experience, and other factors.
