About the Role

Reporting to a Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Lead Technician leads a team of technicians to ensure all equipment repairs and maintenance meet the company's safety standards and federal and state regulations. This role covers chassis (diesel and non‑diesel), refuse bodywork, hydraulic, electrical, heating and air‑conditioning systems, and involves diagnosing complex repairs, coaching staff, and scheduling work to reduce shop downtime. The Lead Technician provides direction to the work group, oversees safe and efficient repair execution, conducts external inspections, and may assume Maintenance Supervisor duties when required. Mentor responsibilities include coaching technicians on diagnostic techniques and ensuring compliance with safety procedures. • Perform line maintenance welding and fabrication. • Direct technicians to perform safe, efficient, timely repairs; plan and schedule work to minimize downtime. • Inspect third‑party vendor repairs for compliance with safety and regulatory standards. • Diagnose complex repair issues using electronic tools. • Identify malfunction sources with various diagnostic equipment. • Complete required company training programs. • Assume maintenance supervisor duties as needed. • Mentor junior technicians.

What You Bring

Candidates must have at least three years of heavy‑truck technician experience, knowledge of suspensions, steering, engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical, hydraulics, drivetrain and diesel emissions, and a valid driver’s license. Supervisory experience, OSHA compliance background, ASE Heavy Truck certifications, and a Class B CDL are desirable but not mandatory. • Maintain expert knowledge and proficiency in chassis, refuse bodies, braking, engine, suspension, drivetrain, steering, and HVAC systems.
