About the Role
• Manage and deliver ground exploration programs, geotechnical design and analysis, technical reports, and design evaluations for transport, water, energy, built environment, and advisory sectors. • Lead and develop a team of geotechnical engineers to perform investigations, geoseismic evaluations, and design work. • Build internal and external client relationships with other engineering disciplines, project managers, and sector clients. • Lead proposal efforts and compile geotechnical proposals for a variety of infrastructure projects. • Manage subconsultants and subcontractors providing investigation services such as drilling, utility locating, surveying, traffic control, and laboratory testing. • Participate in and engage with the geotechnical community in Ontario, specifically the Greater Toronto Area. • Coordinate with the Canada Geotechnical Lead to plan hiring, identify skill gaps, and support team growth.

What You Bring
Mott MacDonald Canada has a new opportunity for an Eastern Canada Geotechnical Lead to join our dynamic and growing team working on iconic infrastructural projects locally, nationally, and globally. This strategic lead development role, based in our Toronto office, offers an exciting chance to shape the future of geotechnical engineering. You will bring expertise in geotechnical engineering and team leadership to projects such as transportation infrastructure, excavations, tunnels, water and wastewater systems, energy, pipelines, ports, and other critical infrastructure. • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (Master’s degree is an asset). • Be a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario. • Possess 15+ years of relevant geotechnical consultancy experience, with preferred work for TTC, Metrolinx, MTO, or Ministry of Infrastructure. • Have experience or eligibility for registration in MTO’s RAQS system for medium or high complexity geotechnical or tunnelling projects. • Demonstrate effective communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills, and mentor junior staff. • Show strong technical proficiency in geotechnical investigations, geoseismic evaluations, and design, with knowledge of software such as Plaxis, GeoStudio, Rocscience, and Ensoft. • Exhibit enthusiasm for supervising others, including reviewing and approving key deliverables. • Possess project management experience and proven technical leadership and collaboration capabilities.
