About the Role
In this role you will lead smaller environmental projects, support senior managers on larger programmes, and have opportunities to line‑manage and mentor junior colleagues while contributing to the team’s strategic development. Key duties include developing project proposals, scopes, budgets and schedules; maintaining project management documentation, risk registers and forecasts; monitoring progress, costs and health‑and‑safety compliance; managing contracts, changes and risks; and leading multidisciplinary teams to deliver environmental betterment and net‑zero objectives. You will act as the face of Environment and Consents for WSP, interfacing with clients, stakeholders and internal teams to build strong relationships and ensure project governance is followed. • Lead small environmental projects and support senior managers on larger programmes. • Develop project proposals, scopes, budgets, schedules and risk registers. • Create and maintain project management documentation, forecasts and stakeholder registers. • Monitor project schedule, costs, staff hours and ensure health‑and‑safety compliance. • Manage contracts, changes and risks while adhering to project governance. • Lead, mentor and develop multidisciplinary environmental teams. • Represent WSP to clients, stakeholders and internal teams, fostering strong relationships. • Promote delivery of environmental betterment and net‑zero strategies.

What You Bring

We are looking for candidates with proven experience as an Assistant Project Manager or Project Manager, preferably in the environment or sustainability sector, strong communication skills, programme management knowledge (MS Project/Primavera), commercial and contractual awareness, and membership or progression toward chartership with a professional institute. • Experience as an Assistant Project Manager or Project Manager, preferably in environment/sustainability. • Strong written and verbal communication skills. • Knowledge of programme management tools (MS Project, Primavera P6) and work breakdown structures. • Commercial and contractual awareness with proven financial acumen; NEC3/4 experience a plus. • Membership or pursuit of chartership with a professional institution (PMI, APM, MIEnvSc, etc.).
