About the Role

The Submarines division designs, manufactures, supplies and provides through‑life support for nuclear propulsion systems for the Royal Navy, acting as the Technical Authority for all UK naval reactor submarine plants and developing the next‑generation nuclear plant for future submarines. The engineer will ensure that all engineering solutions for nuclear facilities are viable for construction, commissioning, operation, maintenance and de‑commissioning, integrating multiple technical disciplines and collaborating with specialists to achieve optimal design decisions. • Elicit, create, and maintain technical requirements with verification and validation. • Collaborate with specialist engineering input to develop integrated solutions. • Ensure designs consider construction, commissioning, maintenance and de‑commissioning phases. • Validate that engineering solutions meet project, technical and safety requirements. • Act as an intelligent customer, overseeing supplier compliance with design intent, safety, legislation and standards. • Provide expertise to other engineering packages. • Coordinate with project management to align schedules, risks, costs and resource needs. • Ensure regulatory and legal compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a degree in a STEM subject, be a Chartered Engineer or progressing towards chartered status, and possess multi‑disciplinary knowledge of civil, mechanical, process and electrical engineering for nuclear or complex facilities. A Security Check clearance is required, with support provided for applicants who do not already have it, and the role is open to UK nationals or MoD‑approved dual nationals. • Hold a degree in a STEM discipline and experience in a highly regulated engineering environment. • Be a Chartered Engineer or hold/working towards chartered or associate membership of a professional engineering body. • Demonstrate multi‑disciplinary knowledge across civil, mechanical, process and electrical engineering for nuclear or complex manufacturing facilities. • Understand safety and environmental considerations for nuclear or other highly regulated industries. • Show a proven track record of delivering projects successfully; experience across multiple engineering lifecycle stages is advantageous. • Experience working with supply chains and contractors is beneficial.
